VARP

Definition: The VARP function in Excel is used to find the variance of a population of data.

Situation: This formula is appropriate in situations where you need to find the variance of a population of data.

Example: If you have a range of data A1:A5 that contains the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, you would use the formula =VARP(A1:A5). This would return a value of 2, which is the variance of the population of data in the range.
