The Hidden Day

Did you know that every month has a hidden day in it? Yep, even February. It is so well hidden that most people never discover it, but it is there for those who will seek it.
Many years ago, I discovered it by reading The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. It was not specifically called out, but it was there, hidden between the lines – an entirely new day in every month.
In The Compound Effect, Darren Hardy talks about how making small changes in your life, over time, add up to big results. At the time I was reading it, the biggest problem I wanted to solve was the feeling that I never had enough time to do the things I wanted to do. My day was filled with responsibilities for one thing or another, and there was no time left to work on my entrepreneurial ambitions. Mr. Hardy provided the solution.
I realized that an incremental adjustment in my schedule would make a big difference over time. I had tried getting up at 4 AM, but found that was not sustainable for me. However, I could adjust my alarm clock by 30 minutes, and that is what I did. 30 minutes was not a big adjustment. I got up a little earlier, but not so much that it made me feel groggy later.
Here’s where the secret comes in: by waking up 30 minutes earlier Monday through Friday, I was able to add 2.5 hours to my work week that were not there before. The next week I did it again, and then again after that. By the end of four weeks, I had added 10 new hours to the month – more than an Entire Workday!
What could you do with an entire extra workday each month?
